Sunscreen openness: 1%, 3%, 5% or 10%?
Openness is the percentage of open area in the weave. The lower the openness, the more sun, glare and UV the fabric blocks — and the less you can see through it. Fabrics around 1–5% give more privacy and sun protection but a dimmer view; around 10% keeps a good view with less glare control.
Colour matters as much as the number. Darker sunscreen fabrics give the clearest view out and the best glare control; lighter colours reflect more heat but the view can look hazy.
Can people see through roller blinds at night?

Stopping light leaks around blockout rollers
Roller blinds naturally leave gaps at the sides, so even blockout fabric lets light in around the edges when the blind sits inside the window recess. To get a properly dark bedroom, fit the blind outside the recess so the fabric overlaps the window on every side, or close the gaps with light-blocking strips. Heat, glare and fading
Interior blinds only block sunlight after it has passed through the glass, so they are less effective at stopping heat than exterior shading, according to the US Department of Energy's Building America Solution Center. Inside the room, view-preserving sunscreen fabrics reduce glare and some solar heat while keeping the view, and an opaque, light-coloured roller hung close to the glass is one of the better interior options for keeping heat out.

A chain-operated roller has a loop on one side: pull one way to raise it and the other to lower it. Cordless rollers use a spring and are raised or lowered by hand at the bottom rail, and motorised rollers run from a remote, a wall switch, an app or a voice assistant.
If young children live or visit, the cord matters more than the fabric.
